About Suzanne
I have been a registered nurse since 1969 and I have been so blessed in my career. I have been a staff nurse, educator, and a director and each of these jobs have provided such experiences for learning and growth. My passion is teaching and supporting the learning process of others. I worked continually as a nurse until 1993 when a series of events kept me from working full time. I stay connected with my profession and I am active in many nurse organizations.
In 2004 a life event woke me up and I decided I wanted something more in my life. This journey, that started in 2004, has lead me here today. This web site and my vision for a place where nurses can be celebrated and where they can learn to love and appreciate how wonderful they are is my vision. Being a nurse has taught me so much and has opened so may doors for me that I wanted to give back to nurses and others.
I was blessed to begin my career when we had time to spend with our patients, there was less regulation and buracuracy. I remember working with physicians who actually prayed with their patients before surgery. This isn't saying that everything was perfect back in the day. However, there was a feeling that all involved in patient care were being called to serve others. I'd like to see us return to some of what we had supported by what we know today.
My education is typical. I have a BSN from Loma Linda University; an MA from California State University Los Angeles, an MN from UCLA, and MA from the University of Santa Monica. I have an CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) Retired, and I am a certified grief counselor. I am also a web designer.
I have worked mostly in large hospitals with the operating room as my speciality. I taught for years and value that experience immensly. I tried my wings in managment at some wonderful hospitals. Thank you to all those who helped me hone my clinical, educational and managerial skills.
I am married and my husband Paul is a retired surgeon. I have 3 cats and I live in a beautiful valley in Southern California. I have a coaching practice out of my home office. I love to walk, swim, read, and spend time with my special friends.
